Understanding Personal Stats & Series Stats

In iRacing, stats play an important role in tracking your progress, competing within your skill level, and improving as a driver. By understanding key metrics like Divisions, Club Points, and Championship Points, you’ll have a clearer picture of where you stand and how you can move forward. Let’s dive into the most important stats you need to understand:

Divisions

Your division in iRacing is determined by your iRating and reflects your skill level within a specific series or racing category. Divisions are used to match drivers with others who have similar performance levels, ensuring more competitive and enjoyable races. Here’s what you need to know:

What Are Divisions?
iRacing splits every series into separate divisions based on iRating, which is your personal performance score. Each division typically has a set of drivers who have similar skills, meaning you’ll race against people who are either just a bit faster or a bit slower than you.

  • How Divisions Work:
    • Division 1 typically includes the top drivers in a series, and as you go down in divisions, the competition becomes less intense but still competitive.
      • Every official race will have a specific division that you’re placed into based on your iRating at the time of the race.
      • You can improve your division placement by consistently performing well in races and increasing your iRating. Conversely, if you perform poorly, your iRating may decrease, potentially moving you into a lower division.
  • Why Divisions Matter:
Divisions provide a fair and competitive environment. If you’re new to a series or iRacing in general, starting in a lower division allows you to improve at your own pace while still racing against others who are at a similar skill level. As you become better, you’ll be promoted to higher divisions, where the competition becomes tougher.

Clubs & Club Points

Many players participate in iRacing clubs, which are communities that often race together in private leagues or competitive events. Clubs can help enhance your experience on iRacing by allowing you to compete in events outside of the official series.

What Are Clubs?

Clubs are groups of iRacing drivers who race together in official and unofficial events. They can be made up of friends, team members, or members of a larger online racing community.

Club Points:

iRacing uses Club Points to track the performance of drivers within a club. Points are accumulated based on your performance in club races and events, and these points contribute to the club’s overall ranking

Club Points System:

Similar to iRating but specific to your club, your Club Points reflect how well you are doing in the club’s internal events.

Why Club Points Matter:

Competing in a club gives you an additional layer of competition. You can compare your performance against your teammates and rival clubs. Plus, club points are often used in club championships to determine the best club or the best individual drivers in the group.

Club Participation:

Being part of a club allows you to participate in club-only events and adds a sense of community and camaraderie to your racing experience.

Some clubs may focus on specific racing series or car types, so make sure to find a club that matches your racing style and goals.

Championship Points

When you compete in official iRacing series or special events, you’ll be awarded Championship Points based on your performance. These points contribute to your standing in a given Championship.

  • What Are Championship Points?
Championship points are awarded for your performance in races that are part of a structured season or series. You earn points based on your finishing position, and these points accumulate over time throughout the season.
  • How Championship Points Work:
    • Points are awarded for each race in the series based on where you finish, as well as how clean your race was (minimizing incidents).
    • The driver with the most points at the end of the season is declared the champion.
  • Why Championship Points Matter:
    • Progression: Championship points are a key way of tracking your improvement in a series. By consistently finishing near the front, you’ll increase your championship points and climb higher in the rankings.
    • Seasonal Rewards: Many series offer rewards or prizes based on championship points, and high rankings can help you get recognized within the iRacing community.
    • Seasonal Competitions: These points help determine division placements for future seasons and give you the motivation to keep improving your results.
